TLI at a Glance
The True Leadership Intensive is a 5-week live group program, run in cohorts of 4-5 leaders. Each participant (or team) identifies a real, relevant, current adaptive challenge - their Big Potential - and works through it with a facilitator using the True Leadership Approach across five guided sessions.
Participants don’t just move the needle on the specific challenge they bring into the program. They leave with a repeatable process for growing through any adaptive challenge they’ll ever face. Because the need to see clearly, choose wisely, and act decisively doesn’t stay at work - it shows up in every relationship, every decision, every area of life. This isn’t just leadership development. It’s human development.
Adaptive challenges aren’t problems to solve.
They’re signals that greater capacity is needed.
Tactical challenges require specific solutions: the right training, the right framework, the right expertise. The best tactical interventions require meticulous and labor-intensive customization to ensure the solution fits the problem.
TLI is a different approach for a different type of challenge. One method, applied consistently, works for any leader at any level facing any adaptive challenge - individually, as a team, or as an organization. And because each participant brings their own real challenge into the program, the customization happens naturally, without any modification to the approach itself.
Each deployment has a distinct focus. All three compound on each other. Together, they create something that all organizations want but few achieve: adaptive leadership capacity embedded not just in individuals, but in the teams, the culture, and the fabric of the organization itself.
The Applications
Three ways organizations deploy the Intensive.
TLI for Individual Leaders
Leaders at the Top
Senior executives and C-suite
At the senior level, adaptive challenges carry the most consequence. The decisions that shape culture, strategy, and people come from the top - which means the blind spots that live there have the widest impact. TLI is highly effective for individual senior leaders navigating the most complex and high-stakes challenges of their careers.
It is perhaps most powerful when applied to the executive team itself. When the people at the top go through TLI together - identifying their collective blind spots, examining their shared assumptions, and building the capacity to see and lead differently as a unit - the effects move through the entire organization. Everything below the top team is downstream of how that team operates together.
Leaders Stepping In
First-time managers and newly promoted leaders
The transition from Individual Contributor to leader is one of the most adaptively dense periods a professional will ever navigate. Each step into a new level of leadership brings more of the same. And most organizations meet it with tactical training - or nothing at all. TLI gives new and newly promoted leaders the foundation they actually need from the start: not simply more frameworks and skills that they’re not going to use, but the internal capacity to navigate what no framework fully prepares you for.
Leaders Stepping Up
High-potential leaders and struggling leaders
Some leaders are visibly on the rise - high-potential, given increasing responsibility and bigger roles they haven’t fully grown into yet. Others appear to have plateaued, not improving despite training, feedback, and opportunity. On the surface these look like different situations. At the adaptive level, they often aren’t.
The high-potential leader hitting an invisible ceiling and the struggling leader that keeps falling back into the same patterns are frequently dealing with the same underlying challenge: untested assumptions, unexamined blind spots, and limits they haven’t yet learned to see. In either case, the answer isn’t more competency-based training - it’s an approach that helps them illuminate the invisible obstacles to their growth.
TLI for Teams
A team cohort can work two ways. TLI within a team develops the group as a byproduct of individuals growing alongside each other - each person still works their own adaptive challenge, but shared awareness, communication and trust strengthen naturally. TLI for a team goes further, treating a shared adaptive challenge as the deliberate collective focus.
TLI as a Coach Approach
Leaders who have done this work themselves can learn to bring it into their everyday leadership - in 1:1s, development planning and team discussions - to unlock capacity growth for the people they lead. This is what moves adaptive capacity from an individual gain into an organizational one.
Real Challenges, Real Growth
Actual Big Potentials
Drawn directly from past TLI cohorts.
Each follows the same structure: ‘My [challenge] is keeping me from [potential].’ This framing names both the obstacle and the growth it’s blocking, creating a clear and personal focus for the five-week experience.
Visibility & Voice
Leaders struggling to be seen, heard, and recognized for the contributions they are already making.
- Fear of speaking up is keeping me from confidently articulating my value in high-stakes conversations.
- My self doubt and need for external validation is keeping me from confidently owning my seat at the table.
- Fear of stepping on other people’s toes is keeping me from being more visible, proactive, and capturing more opportunities.
Influence & Impact
Leaders who have good ideas and strong intentions but struggle to move others toward shared outcomes.
- My avoidance of direct communication is keeping me from driving clear vision with my team.
- Fear of confrontation is keeping me from holding my team accountable in a way that earns their respect.
- Fear of being seen as bossy or not collaborative is keeping me from driving consistent participation and follow-through.
Decision-Making & Action
Leaders caught in overthinking, perfectionism, or avoidance - unable to act decisively even when they know what needs to happen.
- Waiting for perfect clarity is keeping me from taking effective, timely action.
- My avoidance of emotional discomfort is keeping me from committing to strategic, long-term pursuits.
- My need for clarity before acting is keeping me from making good-enough decisions and moving forward.
Strategic Focus
Leaders pulled constantly toward the urgent and tactical - unable to carve out the headspace to lead strategically.
- My default to easy and tactical work is keeping me from acting as a proactive, strategic leader who drives transformation.
- My execution bias is keeping me from building the strategic relationships and visibility that would expand my influence.
- My pull toward what’s urgent is keeping me from prioritizing critical but complex projects.
